June 27, 2017  Upward Bound Students Visit the Clinical Physiology Lab Dr. Hargens welcomed 33 students and volunteers from the Upward Bound Math and Science Program on Tuesday.  This program follows first generation college bound students through their 4 years of high school and provides  opportunities for them to succeed academically. Thanks to Brinda  Rana for organizing the visit, and to the many people who made the  event a success! The students learned about how Dr. Hargens was  first introduced to space physiology and were given a hands on  experience with some of the lab equipment such as the inversion  table, a blood pressure monitor and ultrasound. They also got a tour  of the clinic and a few were able to experience artificial gravity in  the lower body negative pressure chamber.  Presentations were given by Pravleen Bains, Neeki Ashari and Jessie Fischman describing their experiences in  college and the choices they made to get there.  Thanks again to everyone who participated! It was a real treat!
