Kristine Khieu Research collaborator Kristine Khieu is a Bioengineering: Biosystems '18 undergraduate from UC San Diego. She currently studies the effects of microgravity on lumbar paraspinal muscles with the NASA Intervertebral Disc team. For the 2017 summer, she will be conducting biomechanics research on hindlimb unloaded rats as a model for spaceflight at UCSF's Orthopaedic Bioengineering Lab. Aside from research, Kristine is the president of the undergraduate organization "Tritons for Sally Ride Science." She hopes to broaden STEM literacy and bring science to underprivileged areas of San Diego.
